The Olive Branch Living Memorial is being erected in Kurdistan, Northern Iraq, to commemorate the lives of American soldiers lost in Iraq. The land for this project, over 300 acres of prime property near Sulaymaniyah in northeast Iraq, has been generously donated to Generation Iraq, an American non-profit organization, by the government of Iraqi Kurdistan.

Generation Iraq, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization based in Nashville, TN, is sponsoring the “Olive Branch Living Memorial Forest”, with an olive tree planted in memory of each American service person lost during the recent conflicts. A permanent memorial structure featuring the names of every soldier who gave his or her life will also be built on the land.

The Olive Branch Living Memorial, dedicated to the memory of fallen soldiers and civilians who sought freedom for victims of tyranny and dictatorship, stands as a reminder of sacrifices made in the quest to protect humanity and human rights. It exists as a place of comfort and reconciliation for all families grieving the tragedies of conflict. This memorial is created for and from people committed to peace by promoting friendship and reconciliation between all nations and Iraq, without advocating a political position or agenda.
