About Iraqi Kurdistan

The Kurdistan Region of Iraq, (sometimes referred to as Iraqi Kurdistan) is a federal Region within Iraq. With its natural beauty, its mighty peaks and sweeping valleys the Region is one of the world’s most naturally beautiful areas. Rich in history and culture, it is today a democratizing civil society in the heart of the Middle East.

As a major economic power in Iraq, the Kurdistan Region has the lowest poverty rates and highest standard of living in Iraq. It is moreover the most stable and secure region of Iraq, where not a single coalition soldier or foreigner has been killed, wounded or kidnapped since the 2003 invasion of the country.

Modern and Open for Business
Over the last two decades, the Kurdistan Region has transformed from an oppressed Region to a thriving modern society, with development in the oil and gas, agriculture and tourism sectors.

The Kurdistan Region’s leadership has improved education, advanced healthcare and enabled opportunities for a burgeoning society.

The government is also strengthening its institutions, having commenced an aggressive, multi-year Anti-Corruption and Transparency Initiative in partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Today, the Kurdistan Region is growing, democratizing, and modernizing—ready and open for business.
